When Julie Benko first took the stage as the standby for Fanny Brice in “Funny Girl,” she could not have anticipated that she would take her bow as Broadway’s newest breakout star. Said the New York Sun, “Revelatory… The perfect Fannie Brice for our time.”
Julie’s accolades are many, including being named the NY Times’s 2022 Breakout Star, Variety’s 10 Broadway Stars to Watch (2023), and 40 Under 40 in Crain’s New York Business. Her on-stage credits are equally notable for performances in “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Les Miserable” and this past season Barry Manilow-musical “Harmony.”
Offstage, Julie has released multiple studio albums and performed at Cafe Carlyle, Birdland, and 54 Below in New York, plus Catalina Club and Venetian Room at the Fairmont Hotel on the West Coast.
Joined by her husband Jason Yeager on piano, “Standby, Me” reflects on Julie’s journey and meteoric rise, sharing songs and behind-the-scenes stories – a true inspiration for all the greatest stars-to-be.
